LDPC Code-Aided Phase-Ambiguity Resolution for QPSK signals Affected By a Frequency Offset

چکیده
Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes provide capacity approaching performances with very long codes in a coherent channel. However, as the block length increases, their performance becomes worse with residual frequency offsets. Residual frequency offsets can be tackled with sub-block decoding and LDPC code-aided phase ambiguity resolution for binary phaseshift keying (BPSK) signals. Sub-block decoding is a practical technique where phase estimation/correction are done over every sub-block in a codeword. In this paper, we extend the concept of LDPC code-aided phase ambiguity resolution to Quadrature phase-shift keying(QPSK) modulated signals through a mapping/demapping technique. Bit-error rate (BER) simulations show that the phase ambiguity algorithm along with sub-block decoding tackle small frequency offsets with a negligible loss. We further show with the help of EXIT charts that LDPC code distributions performing close to capacity and also aiding phase ambiguity resolution can be constructed.

Construction and Iterative Decoding of LDPC Codes Over Rings for Phase-Noisy Channels
This paper presents the construction and iterative decoding of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes for channels affected by phase noise. The LDPC code is based on integer rings and designed to converge under phase-noisy channels. We assume that phase variations are small over short blocks of adjacent symbols. A part of the constructed code is inherently built with this knowledge and hence abl...
متن کاملTransmission Systems Analysis of the narrowband interference effect on frequency ambiguity resolution for OFDM systems
In orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) systems affected by carrier frequency offsets, frequency ambiguity resolution, i.e. the estimation of the part of the frequency offset corresponding to an integer times the carrier spacing is a crucial issue. The proper action of frequency ambiguity resolution algorithms can be strongly affected by the presence of disturbances, like narrowband...
متن کاملPhase - Ambiguity Resolution for QPSK Modulation Systems Part II : A Method to Resolve the Phase - Ambiguity for Offset QPSK Modulation Systems
Part I1 of this report presents a new method to resolve the phase-ambiguity for Offset QPSK modulation systems. When an Offset Quaternary Phase-Shift-Keyed (OQPSK) communications link is utilized, the phase ambiguity of the reference carrier must be resolved. At the transmitter, two different unique words are separately modulated onto the quadrature carriers. At the receiver, the recovered carr...
متن کاملIterative detection of turbo-coded offset QPSK in the presence of frequency and clock offsets and AWGN
The key contribution of this work is to develop transmitter and receiver algorithms in discrete-time for turbocoded offset QPSK signals. The proposed synchronization and detection techniques perform effectively at an SNR per bit close to 1.5 dB, in the presence of a frequency offset as large as 30 % of the symbol-rate and a clock offset of 25 ppm (parts per million). Due to the use of up-sampli...

The performance of rate-0.8 4-ary LDPC code has been studied in a 50 GHz-spaced 40 Gb/s DWDM system with PDM-QPSK modulation. The net effective coding gain of 10 dB is obtained at BER of 10(-6). With the aid of time-interleaving polarization multiplexing and MAP detection, 10,560 km transmission over legacy dispersion managed fiber is achieved without any countable errors. The proposed nonbinar...
